Hope Grey rolled her neck and shoulders as she got off the bus, turning to her band mates and waving them off. It was somewhat bittersweet. For the past year she had been touring with her band and now was finally 'home' again not that she really thought about it that way.
She had always felt out of place when it come to being in Settle and though she had a rather 'gifted' upbringing she had never felt wanted. Ava, her half sister liked her well enough and one could call them friends but it was more that they were family....half sisters...like it or not and therefore HAD to get along. Kate never had liked her and didn't mid showing it and then there was her father..One Elliot Grey. She had gotten used to the fact that he spent as little time with her as he could, NEVER looked at her and seemed more then greatful when she had found a new home on stage.
Now, now she was back, standing on the sidewalk, wondering...The tour had come to an end. The Band was taking time off and Hope had only one place to head. Home, home to see her father and once more walk on egg shells.
"You act like you don't even know me" she recalled the line from one of her songs. "A stranger coming into the light."

"Baby girl, you whooo!" Christine called on seeing her niece, beaming as she pounced in place, waving at her.
Although going on fifty, Christine still had a hard time acting her age, this challenge growing as she got older and was expected to be 'mature', a word she still tried to deny existed and if it did then it had no meaning so may as well not.

Sighing to herself Hope's thoughts turned back to the task at had. How to GET home. Taxi? Sure she could do that, one of her bags held her money but she couldn't for the life of her remember which one. She could call home and ask her father but then the egg walking would start early and in a confined space....no place to run.
It was only by chance that something made her take note of someone yelling and waving and for a moment Hope wondered if it was a fan but then why would they be calling her 'baby girl?'... Wait a minute.
"Aunt Chrissy?" she questioned before shaking her head and turning. Who else?

She flashed her arms out to the side, her smile growing even wider and brighter.
"Ta da! The one and only sweetie!" She beamed before she began to skip as she ran up the street to her, nearly going flying several times as she went before she finally embraced her niece, bouncing as she held her close, giggling giddily.

"You never grow up do you?" Hope laughed loving her aunts 'care free and wild ways' "So where's Peter and Tinkerbell off with the lost kids again?"
It was so easy to tease her aunt, one of the few people in her family that she actually felt she could be herself around. Her father...well...Emily... her steep mother SHE felt odd around knowing that the women was her mother's sister. Her Uncle and Christine's husband... there was just something she couldn't quite place with the way HE looked at her.
"No really how are things in Never Never land?"

"Oh pisha you cheeky little chipmunk!" She giggled, patting her cheeks playfully, rolling her eyes as she showered her in kisses before squeezing her in another tight loving hug.
"I have said to you many times, getting older is... Mandatory, growing up is optional." She said, leading her to the car, taking half of her nieces things with ease.
"Things have been... Things. Your sisters mother still hates me, not as much as Ana herself who is still planning and preying for my passing with each day. Your sister herself is... Damn it, this is why I go in the order I already I agreed with myself in my head..."

"Join the club." Hope voiced when it came to the thoughts of Kate, her father's first wife. She knew that Kate hated her with a fire and a passion only knowing half the reason why. Her father had left Kate for Emma Hope's mother who had died giving birth to her. Somehow it seemed Kate blamed her.
"I'm already starting to wonder if I should just get back on the bus and not care that I don't have my band or know where I'm going." she stated placing her few other bags in the back before climbing in. "Home is meant to be something you miss when you leave it, not something you run away from."

Christine put the things she was carrying into the boot, pulling out the gift bag she'd bought for her special girl, she slid into the drivers seat, listening silently to her till she finished, like no one had really done for her when she had needed it. When she had finished, Christine's face dropped, looking over at her niece. She took her hand and held it firmly in her two, bringing it to her lips she kissed it lightly.
"Look at me, baby girl"

Sighing to herself Hope knew what she was getting herself into, walking into. It had been the same ever since she could remember. Sometimes she wondered why her father hadn't given her up or Kate HADN'T crossed that line and tried to hurt her in at least some way that words alone couldn't.
Her head turned at her Aunts touch letting out a deep breath.
"Sorry," she voiced "I shouldn't be so...'blues' there are SOME people I missed."

"No, no, no, don't worry about giving me that whole crap spiel, like 'oh but of course I missed you, and... Enter name or relation here', cause I have been in a similar place as you. Similar but not identical, and all I know is that... If it weren't for your mother being there for me, putting me first above everything, even your father, I'd... Yeah, yeah..." She said, never being one able to say or outwardly accept death or dying.
"But she did that because she knew I needed someone, and no one else would or could help me like she could... What I'm trying to say is..." She closed her eyes, thinking as she spoke.
"If you... Feel that need, to just... Escape, go somewhere that isn't right here right now, you call me baby girl cause I will pack my things and go along right beside you,"

Hearing about her mother Hope couldn't help but brush away a tear that spilled from her eye.
"It isn't that. I SHOULD be home, happy to see my family blood or otherwise. I just wish...I know that Dad loved Mum I know Uncle Christian did to in his own way but I just feel like...I don't know...like one would rather forget I was alive and the other... I'm not even sure and then actually being home. I like the fact that it's HOME and all and I don't have a bunk bed and 4 guys snoring down the bus but..." she didn't know how to finish. "I guess I just don't want to be running all the time you know?"

She nodded, kissing her forehead as she cuddled her close to herself, playing with her hair
"I understand little one... Why don't you stay with your uncle and I for a bit? Or you can stay in what was my home before I married your uncle... I'll come help clean and sort it out, but it can be your secret little hide away, a home from home kind of thing,"

"That would be great Aunt Chris but...I still think I should at lest TRY and steep through my own front door. I mean...he IS my father and MY blood. Maybe I'm just fooling myself but I'd like to believe he at least one day may 'accept' me or the fact that he has another daughter."
She played with the ring around her neck, her mother's ring the one thing that had been left to her and HAD been past on.
"Sometimes I wonder if he even knowns my name."

"Thanks, right now I think it best I try and see my Dad. I did promise Gran I'd come over later for dinner with them and it lest there I feel like family. She wants to hear that I'm still in one piece and that the boys didn't...take over as she claims." she couldn't help but giggle "though I someone think she means to check if her...innocent... granddaughter is still in tact."
